I currently have a domain registered with GoDaddy.com, and was using their free hosting. I don’t like their banner at the top of my page.

Are there any sites that offer good hosting with no ads for free? I have seen lists from doing searches, but I was hoping to get some real people’s opinions.

A common question:

I found a place that I can build my website, but I don’t want to have to use one of their sub domains. But they give me the option to change the name servers or something like that. I just want something to host the domain, so I can change the name servers and be able to build it on another site. Where can I do this? Please help.

I hired a web designer for e-commerce but he could not activate the shipping cost meaning when customer place an order, the shipping cost is not added to the amount purchased. And he do not want to make changes either, such as the font. He said that the system won’t let him changed the font nor the shipping cost. At the end, I though I may have hire someone else to do the things he couldn’t do. So I asked him to give me access to ftp cpanel or login details from the hosting company but he refused until I pay him the balance. I told him that I wanted to check the cpanel to ensure that I’m able to edit my website. He said for security reason he cannot give it to me and demanded his money. What should I do? was I scammed? Please help and thanks in advance.
Thank you all for the reply. I want to let you know that I cannot change anything to block him because he designed the website from his chosen hosting service. I purchased my domain name from register.com and I added him as admin in my acct. He now transfered my domain to hostgator which is his hosting service. I cannot pay him until I get the access code because I noticed when I asked him to make some changes which are minor changes; shipping and font, he took off the website for weeks and email me complaining that he’d been working for 55 hours and he wants his money now. He told me that he can make changes if I’m willing to put "FREE SHIPPING" to all my product? which I refused.

Hello,
I am looking to startup a website to showcase and sell my photography online. I know how appealing flash websites are, so I am looking for a website host with relatively good rates and customizable flash templates. I know that I can purchase flash templates on their own, but I would rather find a host with all of this included as it would be easiest for me. I have very little knowledge in HTML, flash and DreamWeaver so I would prefer not to have to learn much or any of this. A host with a store setting that can be set up with PayPal would be excellent too. I have a lot of knowledge with Photoshop so I was hoping that I could incorporate my own graphics into this. I know that I am looking for "the perfect host," but if you know any that have these features, that would be fantastic!

Question about cpanel website hosting: im newly hosted my website. i got cpanel. in my website i need confirmation mail to registered users. when users registering by their yahoo mail id or other mail id’s they not reciving conformation mails where as abc@abc.com <pop mail users only reciving> confirmation mails.

as website is for all. my members all to need confirmation mail from my site to their yahoo or other mail ids to continue as members in my site.. i need to know "SMTP MAIL Settings "

Question about cpanel website hosting: Where can I find a free website host with no ads or banners etc., with at least 5 mysql databases, ftp, CPanel, Fantastico (or similar), and more than 100MB webspace + reasonable bandwidth. I also need a free webhost that can use my existing domain. I know I’ve put a lot of high requirements but I do know that there are many web hosts that offer this for free. I’m just fed up with registering and discovering the pop ups and annoying catches. Or rather, can someone direct or offer me an affordable webhosting (less than £5)?
